I am running for the District 9 City Council seat because it is my home and I want to give back to San Antonio by serving our neighborhoods. I have a long history of service to the City of San Antonio dating back to my first project in 1988 - the opening of the Rivercenter Mall. Since then, I have played an instrumental role in major economic development projects in our city. I participated as an advisor on various task forces to improve the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, the Alamodome and the San Antonio International Airport, where I currently serve as the Chairman of the Airport Advisory Committee. My past work experience includes economic development, international trade, transportation and hospitality. As an association executive, I represented 250 small business owners. Currently, I am the President of the San Antonio Tourism Council – a position I’ve held for the past 19 years.
The point with sharing my history is to assure the constituents of District 9 that I have the knowledge, the experience and the leadership skills to represent our district as a capable and resourceful councilman. I work within our city network everyday, and I am well-versed on city government and operations.
As a District 9 resident, I understand the challenges we face in the fields of transportation and traffic flow, public safety, fiscal responsibility, and our city’s infrastructure, which is under a lot of pressure to keep pace with our fast population growth. On a personal level, I have a passion for providing better city parks, dog parks and access to quality sports fields and facilities for our children.
My extensive leadership experience in San Antonio has prepared me to serve and I am confident that I am the best-qualified candidate to represent our district. I am fully committed to finding solutions for our issues and making improvements where needed. I ask you to support my efforts and give me the opportunity to work for you.
